Second open international students programming contest named in honour of S.A. Lebedev – V.M. Glushkov «KPI-OPEN» 2007

From  2nd till 7th of July 2007, National technical University of Ukraine «Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» carries out the Second open international students programming contest named in honour of  S.A. Lebedev  and V.M.Glushkov «KPI-OPEN». The goal of the event is attraction of the society's attention to the intellectual competitions among the students, popularizing of intellectual leadership and team spirit, improvement of professional skills of talented youth, development of IT industry of Ukraine as one of the most important and challenging, development of intercampus relationships and establishing of personal contacts among students of different countries, knowledge exchange between Ukrainian IT-market leaders and students, granting the winners chance to improve practical skills within UA IT market leaders’ educational facilities.

The Contest is conducted according to the original rules harmonized to international, supported by  the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Cyber Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In order to implement the core competition, the special software platform using modern development technologies was created by specialists of the Chair of Computing Technique of the National Technical University of Ukraine  «KPI».

Imortant role was played by sponsors, namely - BMS Consulting, GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY, «Kvazar-Micro» corporation, Wnet company.  

Prize fund of the contest consists of: certificates for free of charge learning on authorized trainings and courses along with the right to free of charge pass through the certification exams in BMS Consulting Academy (technologies of Microsoft, HP, Cisco, 3Com, Check Point, Oracle, Information Security) and in Education Center of «Kvazar-Micro»  Corporation (technologies Sun Java/J2EE, Sun Solaris, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Linux, ITIL), prizes from GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY, subscription to specialized magazines, and, traditionally, 3 volumes sets of Donald Knut - «The art of programming» books, Kyiv city guides and other NTUU «KPI» gifts and souvenirs.  

Wnet company, since «KPI-OPEN» 2006, by means of advanced technologies, provides the participants of the Contest by quality broadband wireless Internet access, and implements on-line Internet broadcasting of all events of the Contest.

Support of the General Informational Sponsor – analytical magazine Computer Review weekly, and also Informational Partners – magazines Mobility, Gameplay, PC for Home, My Computer, My Gaming Computer, PC World Ukraine, Digital, T3, website ITC Online – influenced to a considered degree providing the Contest with wide echo among readers, strengthening the status of the «KPI-OPEN» and attracting teams from many regions.

Participants registration on the website http://kpi-open.org is finished on 23.06.2007.

75 teams have registered to participate in the contest, among them 3 teams from Belarus, 2 teams from Georgia, and also one team from Poland.

                During the contest we have organized the cultural program, consisting of Dnipro river trip, Kyiv City tour, and cinema.
