The Regional Railways Project on the creation of data processing centers for the Automated Freight Transportation Control System on the basis of НР and Oracle DBMS servers and storages

Due to the increased volumes of cargo transportation by the Ukrainian Railways, the latter faces a new task of upgrading the data processing centers of regional Railways.

The upgrade pursues two goals:

	Increase of the request processing speed by servers responsible for freight transportation
	Increase of reliability and failure safety of computer complexes in general

We offered the upgrade of hardware and software complexes – part of servers, disk storages, system software with DBMS.

The result of the upgrade was supply of equipment, software update, and quite serious works on introduction.

Perhaps the most serious task was introduction of these solutions, since the computer capacities currently in use could have been shut down for a very insignificant period of time, and in several cases, the shutdown wasn’t required at all.

We offered solution on the basis of НР equipment (servers and disk storages), Oracle DBMS, and special solution related to the backup data copying and restoration.

The НР equipment was selected based on the maximum flexible integration into existing hardware and the possibilities offered for further development.

Oracle – as a DBMS which provides maximum speed and reliability for this task.

As a result of implementation of the projects, regional Railways have substantially increased the failure safety of their computer capacities which control freight transportation. Also, we have increased the information processing time which is critical for Customer.

Requirements of the Ukrainian Railways to speed and reliability of computer systems are constantly growing. This growth provides for both the tactical short-term development and, in certain moment, the strategic upgrade of the system.

We believe that the customer has quite high opinion about qualification of BMS Consulting shown in course of implementation of this project. This opinion is based on the fact that today, we already plan further development.
